Meeting Jesus in the Middle of Your Questions

When Questions Lead to Jesus

If you’ve ever thought, “I’m not sure what I believe, but I’m curious…”—you’re in good company.

Jesus was constantly surrounded by people with questions. Not just the devoted, but the doubtful. The skeptical. The confused. He didn’t turn them away—in fact, He often went out of His way to meet them.

And that tells us something powerful:
Jesus welcomes curiosity.

The Invitation to “Come and See”

When Philip met Jesus in the Gospel of John, he rushed to tell his friend Nathanael. But Nathanael was skeptical:

“Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” (John 1:46)

Philip didn’t argue. He simply said:

“Come and see.”

It’s the same invitation extended to all of us. Not, “Believe right now.” Not, “Don’t ask questions.” But simply: “Come and see.”

Jesus doesn’t demand blind faith. He invites open hearts.

Jesus & the Questioners

Let’s look at just a few of the people Jesus encountered:

Nicodemus — The Religious Doubter

He came to Jesus at night, afraid and unsure.

Jesus met him with patience and truth: “You must be born again.” (John 3)

The Woman at the Well — The Outcast with a Past

She tried to deflect with theological questions.

Jesus met her with compassion and revealed who He was—perhaps more clearly than to anyone else. (John 4)

Thomas — The One Who Needed Proof

Even after the resurrection, Thomas couldn’t believe without seeing.

Jesus didn’t shame him. He showed him His scars. “Stop doubting and believe.” (John 20)

Why Jesus Still Matters

So why does Jesus still capture hearts, centuries later?

Because He’s not just a historical figure or a wise teacher. He claimed to be God in the flesh—and then backed it up with a life, death, and resurrection that changed everything.

More than that, His story intersects with your story. He sees your questions, your past, your pain—and He doesn’t walk away. He moves closer.

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” — Luke 19:10

What If You’re Still Unsure?

That’s okay.

Following Jesus doesn’t begin with certainty—it begins with honesty. With a willingness to look again. To listen. To explore.

You don’t need to resolve every question today. You just need to be open.

Ask Him, “If You’re real, show me.”
He loves to answer that prayer in ways both gentle and undeniable.

How to Explore Jesus for Yourself

Here are a few ways to take that next step:

  • Read a Gospel — Start with John or Mark. Just read with fresh eyes.

  • Watch a short film or video series — We recommend The Bible Project's videos on Jesus.

  • Talk to someone — If you know a Christian, ask how they met Jesus.

  • Join a course — Something like Alpha is made for people just like you: curious, questioning, exploring.

Final Thoughts

If Jesus truly is who He says He is, then knowing Him changes everything.

But you don’t need to figure it all out in one go. Keep seeking. Keep asking. Keep walking.

Because if you’re on a journey to truth, don’t be surprised if you find Jesus in the middle of it.

“I am the way and the truth and the life.” — John 14:6
